Objectives of the workshop. |
| |
| Infectious diseases constitute a major health hazard in our country. For ensuring minimum rate of morbidity and mortality, fast and accurate diagnosis is very essential. Though molecular diagnostics offer quicker and accurate diagnosis, the methods are costly, involving sophisticated instrumentation. In our developing country, we need rapid, simple and inexpensive techniques for diagnosis of infectious diseases.
The workshop aims to contribute to this goal by demonstrations and hands on training for various rapid and simple diagnostic techniques, suitable for application and adaptation in a low-cost laboratory. These techniques are applicable to common infectious diseases. Additional support is provided through discussions and lectures from experts in their respective fields. During the workshop emphasis will be given both of the above to microscopic and other methods in infectious disease diagnosis and also to development of human resources trained to carry out the learnt techniques at any level (peripheral and central). |
