Tips To Freshmen

1. Get used to new technical forms, which are mainly based upon Latin roots of English words. Always keep a pocket medical dictionary with you at all times. Do not hesitate to look up the word in the dictionary or ask its meaning.

2. Get familiar with the topic by reading about it from the textbook before the lecture.

3. Develop the habit of taking down notes of the main points of the lecture. Pay attention to the teacher when he is delivering the lecture. Listen to the teacher carefully. Pay attention to the points on which the teacher puts special emphasis.

4. Read the topic of the lecture again from the textbook at home. Supplement your class notes.

5. Review and discuss the topics with your friends in small groups. Develop the habit of participating in the discussion. Develop the habit of speaking in English.

6. The students who have studied in local medium will face difficulty in getting adjusted to the new environment. The medium of instruction in the medical college is English. Such students should also study English as a language to be able to comprehend and express fluently in English.

7. A successful clinician has a strong background of basic sciences, which form the foundation of understanding and practicing the art and science of Medicine and Surgery.
