SMT. NHL MUNICIPAL MEDICAL COLLEGE EMBLEM

 

The emblem of the Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College was personally devised by Dr. M.D. Desai.

It shows in the centre the 'Three Gates' of Ahmedabad framed by the artistically carved wooden arch. Both symbolize the rich cultural heritage of the city.

The frame and the gates also symbolize the portal of entry into the field of medicine, one of the most ancient and noble professions of the world.

Above that is the Swastik, the symbol of well-being,signifying that the dominant thought in the mind of the doctor should be the welfare of his patients.

In place of the customary coconut, we find a retort, the symbol of alchemy. It denotes man's unending search for the elixir of Life. Here it stands for the untiring efforts of the physician, to bring welfare and longevity to the patient.

The logo "Bhadram no api vatay mana" is from Rigveda Mandal 10, Sutra 25. It means " Lead our minds towards the auspicious.

The full line is "Lead our minds towards the auspicious and make them agile and ready to work".
