DR. AJAY PRAFUL MUNSHI : AN INTRODUCTION
 
After his early education at St. Xaviers College Ahmedabad, he completed his M.B.B.S. from N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad.
He did his M.S. in General Surgery from K.M. School of Postgraduate Medicine & Research, Gujarat University.
Soon after his post graduation he joined the Anatomy department of N.H.L. Municipal Medical College as an Assistant Professor and served for nearly 1 1/2 years.
Dr. Munshi was selected as a Faculty member in the department of Surgery; since then he has served the K.M. School of Post graduate Medicine & Research - V.S. Hospital as Associate Professor of Surgery and later as a Professor of Surgery.
He was the first Doctor, Surgeon, in the last 65 years to get a Ph.D. degree in a clinical subject `Cryobiology of Piles' from Guj arat University and has enthused many younger surgeons to take up Ph.D. in clinical subjects.
He rose to become Deputy Director of V S. Medical Research Foundation Trust, a very prestigious position.

-Dr. M.D. Desai gold medal for the best peformance in academic and extra curricular activities. Dr. -H.D. Joshi trophy for donating blood for the highest number of times.
-Best Paper award from International College of Surgeons for research work on Prostatic abscess.
-Best Research Paper award at Gujarat State Surgeons' Conference 1982 for Cryoprobe.
-Best Paper award ICS Conference for 'Splenorrhaphy'.
-Rotary International President's citation.
-National Pulse-Polio Committee of Rotary International Award --District Governor's President's Appreciation Award.
-Awarded Ph.D. degree for Cryo Biology in the treatment of piles from Gujarat University. ---Best Paper Award : Infra Red Coagulation in Piles : 2001.

Organised a community oriented Surgical exhibition in regional language with the help of posters, specimens, models, video films, video slides, robot and computers which was first of its kind in India, Ahmedabad 1986.
